LEARNING FROM SOUTH AFRICA?
Why was the press so keen on seeing South Africa fail to host a successful World Cup in 2010? Some of the concerns circled around the completion of stadiums, safety of visiting fans, and security during the games.
What ended up happening was completed stadiums, no major crime during the games, adequate transportation, and over 90% attendance rate — all of which have left a long-lasting legacy for future hosts to follow.
It seems that Brazil didn’t get the memo…
